  1. I use math in my everyday life when I go shopping. I am always viewing numbers on the price tags of clothing. In additionally, sometimes stores have signs that say an item has a discount. The percentage off causes me to calculate how much the item would cost me with the discount. I also see math when I am driving on the highway to work. There are signs with numbers that represent the speed limit for that specific highway. Another place I see math is when I go to the bank. Before I go to the teller I fill out a deposit slip and add up the checks I have to write the total. This has made me reflect on how important my understanding of math is for me to do things everyday. Math is all around me!

  2. I use math when I go shopping. I need to make sure I have enough money to buy all of the things I need, so I look at the amount in my wallet, count the price of all my items, and subtract the sum from my money. Another place I use math is when I am eating at a restaurant. When I pay the bill, I use percentages to find out how much tip I should give my waiter or waitress. Finally, I use math when my friends tell me that his or her birthday is X days away. I count X days to find out when their birthday is.

  3. Math truly is everywhere! I use it in the morning when I wake up- I am ALWAYS looking to snooze a bit longer. I have to figure out how much extra time I can give myself to sleep with still enough time to get ready. I also measure the ingredients I put into breakfast smoothies (in cups, ounces, and teaspoons). Math also comes into the equation when I try to figure out when to put gas into my car. I have to know about how many miles I get per gallon, how many miles I will drive in 1 day, and how many gallons of gas are left in my car. Most importantly, I use math to figure out how much and when money will be deposited into my bank account. I have to keep track of how many hours I have worked and which jobs deposit on which day.

  4. I use math all the time in my everyday life! When I go shopping I always love finding a good sale and am constantly trying to figure out how much the item I want to buy will be after I use my coupon. I also use math when I am working with students. I have to pay very close attention to the time on the clock and how much time I have left with each one of my students. I don't know what I would do without the watch I wear on my wrist. I also love to bake. When I am making cookies, sometimes, I have to double or triple the amount I need for each ingredient just so that I can make enough for everyone. I also have to measure very carefully so the cookies taste great!
